About Parenting with Art™

Inhabit a Posture of Curiosity
Like her first book, The Great Belonging: How Loneliness Leads Us to Each Other, Charlotte Donlon’s Parenting with Art website and book invite readers to inhabit a posture of curiosity. She explores why giving kids opportunities to engage with different forms and genres of art is an effective parenting strategy and offers suggestions and ideas for you to try with your children.

Put Your Kids in the Way of Art
Art is important because art helps us belong to ourselves, others, the divine, and the world around us. Putting kids in the way of visual art, music, films, books, and more enhances their emotional, relational, mental, and spiritual development. When parents and other caregivers offer children art, they’re able to give more than they can provide on their own.

Let Art Help You Navigate the Mysteries of Parenting
While research and evidence-based strategies can be useful for parents, there is an element of mystery in parenting that sometimes produces more questions than answers. Parenting with Art provides space for parents to be curious and thoughtful while they’re wrestling with questions and seeking answers. We invite you to incorporate art while navigating the ups and downs and twists and turns along the path you travel with your kids throughout their childhood and beyond.

“I put my kids in the way of art because art has helped me heal and thrive. Art has helped me stay alive.” - Charlotte Donlon
